Ashlynn Doljac

Ashlynn likes to dream through vivid colours and unlimited possibilities. She is a multi-disciplinary artist, innovator, poet, and dreamer, in her final year of Thesis in the Life Studies program at OCAD University, with a Minor in Art & Social Change. Her work centres on the notion of humans as storytellers, by creating a sense of embodied art-making connected to the earth. She works through mediums of drawing, painting, and sculpture to interpret the nuanced ebbs and flows of the world around her. She successfully self-published her first book of poetry and is an experienced  mural painter, who has participated in the 2018 & 2019 Arts of August Youth Showcase in Hamilton, Ontario, where she was awarded Runner-up for the theme of Culture. She recently completed an 18 month residency alongside the Vegan Society of Canada, as their designated Artist in Residence, and is the current Student Leader of the Connection Earth Collaborative at OCAD. She has had solo exhibitions at Gallery 1313 and Gerrard Art Space (GAS) in Toronto, and Visual Arts Mississauga @ Riverwood. In addition, Ashlynn has been invited to participate in two artist panels alongside the Connection Earth Collaborative, and featured an artist talk at OCAD. She has recently placed as a 1st place finalist at the Hamilton, Guelph, and Toronto Poetry Slams. For Ashlynn, art is a vehicle to transport, translate, and transform ideas of life, love, loss, and finding her voice through imaginative avenues.
